Domain Registration Questions

Question: What do I do after registering my domain name with HostSite.com
After you register your domain name here, only you will be able to use that unique domain name
as your website address worldwide. HostSite.com give you complete control over managing your
domain name. You have the following options available:

1. You can put up a website as your domain name.
To do this, simply choose a HostSite Hosting Service Plan that is right for you,
build your web pages, and then upload them to our hosting servers.
Your customers, friends, or visitors can then visit your website
from anywhere around the world at anytime from the internet.

2. You can use your domain name as a custom email address: you@you-own-name.com
Email branded under your own domain name projects a positive image to customers,
which can not otherwise be done using a free anonymous Hotmail account.
If you want customers to take your company's professional image seriously,
you need to get an email address branded under your own company's domain name.
To get email branded under your own name, simply choose a HostSite Email Service Plan
that is right for you, or you can get a HostSite hosting plan which already includes email accounts.

3. You can register domain names to defend your brand name against traffic hijackers.
Prevention is always better than cure. Cures can often be very expensive later.
For example, competitors or speculators will often register misspelling, or a confusingly
similar domain names to popular targeted websites in order to gain redirected traffic
to their own website every time an internet user mistypes or misspell that
popular targeted website address. If you happen to be the owner of that targeted
popular website, you're losing potential visitors to those hijackers who registered
misspelled or mistyped versions of your domain name. If you think about this situation,
the most obvious answer would be for the owner of the popular website to
defensively register variations of his domain name from the very start even before
the website became popular. By the time a website becomes popular, its already too late.
Traffic speculators will have already registered important variations of your domain,
and then redirect mistyped traffic to their own website. Because you know this,
you are already better off than someone who is not aware of this until it is too late.
For example, because we know this, we actively deploy defensive registrations for HostSite.com.
What we did was that we registered both the singular and plural cases of our brand name.
We own both HostSite.com and HostSites.com.  We also registered,  host-site.com,
with the dash in between. If you type http://hostsites.com or http://host-site.com into the web browser,
you'll see it redirecting back to our main site:  http://hostsite.com. We also registered
similar domain names such as sitehost.com (hostsite reversed), and other misspelled variations
of our brand name just so our customers who misspell our brand will still be able to find us.

If your brand is important to you, you can use this same strategy that we used in order to protect yourself.
Register potential variations of your domain, and then use our free domain redirection feature to
forward the incorrect domain name to your main domain name. You can do this from
    inside your Account Manager here.

4. You can keep the domain name registered under your ownership for as long as like
until you finally decide to use it sometime in the future. For this option, you just have
to remember to renew your domain. Or for convenience, you can register or renew
the domain for 10 years at a time, so you do not have worry about forgetting to renew it yearly.
For example: Because the domain name HostSite.com and HostSites.com is important to us,
we renewed the registration of HostSite.com and HostSites.com for an additional 10 year time frame.
This gives us peace of mind because we do not have to think about renewals for a long time.
