Question:
Is there a way for FTP to work even before the DNS
NameServer are resolved for my domain? |
Yes, there is a way to do this.
If your DNS for your domain name is not fully
propagated yet, you will not be able to access your
FTP
through the normal FTP directions which is based on
the hostname.
But if you're in a hurry to do the upload,
then
there is still a way to upload via FTP before DNS
propagation
has taken place.
Instead of using the FTP setup settings by hostname which is:
hostname:
ftp.your-own-domain.com (replace 'your-own-domain.com'
with your hosting domain name)
username:
your-own-domain.com (replace 'your-own-domain.com'
with your hosting domain name)
password: (your hosting password)
Change the FTP Setting to reference an IP address
instead to:
For Premium Plus, Premium Advance, Enterprise,
or ASP Packages, the FTP IP settings are:
hostname:
216.251.43.98
username:
your-own-domain.com (replace 'your-own-domain.com'
with your hosting domain name)
password: (your hosting password)
For Premium Lite and Premium Basic packages,
the FTP IP settings are:
hostname:
216.251.32.92
username:
your-own-domain.com (replace 'your-own-domain.com'
with your hosting domain name)
password: (your hosting password)
If you use an IP address for your hostname instead,
it will bypass any need for a DNS lookup,
so you can start using the FTP right away, despite
the fact that the DNS Nameservers has not
propagated yet. |
